So if you are thinking of getting married make sure you diarise Sat 16 Sept 2017 as it will be a one-stop shop show-casing the best of the Central Otago wedding industry! I’m also very proud to be part of the team bringing one lucky couple the opportunity to win their dream wedding so make sure you check the details. I’m just getting organised for an intimate ceremony on NYE – the couple are from abroad and 4 close friends will watch them make one of the most important decisions in their lives – and so it seems timely to write a piece on small weddings and elopements. Traditionally, people think of elopements as running off to get married in secret – nowadays, for me at least, an elopement (or mini elopement as I call them) is a ceremony of ten or less guests and is often planned weeks or months in advance. Ruth from Fluidphoto captured both the happy couple and the Hawkdun’s mountain range perfectly in this piccie at a wedding at The Homestead and Woolshed on Racecourse in Omakau. Run by the lovely Judy from Central Otago Country Weddings it’s a beautiful blend of country sophistication – I love it! Combine Judy with Ruth who is a professionally qualified photographer with a fine arts degree and you get a perfect match! Sparkly and at the top of their game describes these two perfectly. I look at that mountain range every morning – feeling blessed ladies!

How Did You Become a Celebrant? It all started when Sophie from Harmony Skin and Beauty in Alexandra was doing my wedding make-up and said “I hope I’m as relaxed as you when I get married” and in a moment of love for the human-race I said “I’ll help you!” And so I became their wedding planner and a year later Sophie got married in front of 130 guests – we had great fun – becoming a celebrant seemed the natural next step.
